The article addresses to the investigation of juveniles` victim and the conditions of its occurrence, since the problem of delinquency against juveniles has become of particular importance for our country, and a social disaster, a threat to the safety of juveniles.
Children and adolescents are often become victims of crime, abuse and violence. Scientists are convinced there is an inextricable link between the personality of any person and his/her behavior. Personality and mental properties “is both a prerequisite and the result of its activity. The internal mental content of behavior that occurs in a particular situation, which is particularly significant for the individual, becomes relatively stable personality traits, and personality traits, in its turn, are reflected in their behavior”.
According to the modern data, juvenile’s victim status is understood as a kind of ability to fall victim to negative phenomena, that is, a juvenile has not yet become one, but in his personality certain qualities have already emerged that make him a victim in certain circumstances, faster and easier than other juveniles who do not have these personality traits. A victim statuse characterizes a person`s tendency to fall victim to certain circumstances.
Considering victim status as a form of deviation from the norms and rules of safe behavior, one should distinguish situational, personal and role victim status.
Thus, juvenile’s victim status can be defined as a socio-psychological phenomenon associated with the child’s tendency to fall victim to unfavorable social conditions. Not only the mechanism of a person’s victim status influences on a victim behavior, but also the close environment, circumstances and situations in which the child is involved.
Key words: victim behavior, crime prevention, juvenile, reasons and conditions of victimization, prevention.
