Summary

The article analyzes the positive and negative impact of information technology on the development of children and adolescents. Highlights the main hazards and risks that may arise during the use of the Internet.

Information technology in the article is considered as a process using a combination of means and methods of collecting, processing and transmitting data (primary information) to obtain new quality information about the state of an object, process or phenomenon.

It is established that the main risk factors for health from the use of: computer radiation; user work position; image quality on the screen; psychological and physical fatigue due to inappropriate design and lighting of the room; the amount of time spent at the computer stresses arising from the specific use of computers. Confirmation of the findings of the World Health Organization which has recorded that long work at the computer has a negative impact on many functions of our body: nervous activity, endocrine, immune and reproductive systems, organs of vision and the musculoskeletal system of a person.

The spiritual sphere of the child undergoes the negative influence of computer technologies, as the intrusion into its inner world of artificial, illusory impressions of on-screen virtual plots and interaction with them occurs, and psychological dependence on virtual reality arises.

Mental health of a person suffers as a result of Internet addiction, gambling, in particular, the infatuation with games using virtual reality technology, reduction of criticality for a large amount of unreliable information on the Internet, flight from real life to the virtual world, loss of I-real feeling (problems with self-identification – there is an alienation of the “I”), a change in the focus of control, “digital dementia” – underdevelopment due to the imposition in everything on the electronic devices of the right hemisphere of the brain, which It is in favor of the concentration of attention and memory, which can cause long-term impairment of the mental and intellectual development of children. In the so-called computer generation, some types of memory work worse; emotional immaturity and irresponsibility are observed.

Psychological risk factors associated with the quality and content of the programs that students can use are fixed, namely: the influence of the features of the dynamics of activity, the image on the screen, the time spent in cyberspace on the indicators of attention and memory; the influence of the content and dynamics of computer games on the aggressiveness of behavior; the impact of the features of computer games and surfing the Internet on the formation of cyber addiction; changes in values and communication links under the influence of Internet travel and Internet communication, leading to a break or a significant change in family and friendship ties, and the like.

Thus, the environment emerging in the global Internet can influence the formation of negative psychological attitudes among adolescents. Moreover, with a careful study, in the network environment one can find a manifestation of the known mechanisms of social determination of crime: through a certain social personality formation; by giving her prescriptions of a wrongful or contradictory nature; by posing a person in a situation that forces and facilitates the choice of a criminal variant of behavior.

The article proves that in modern conditions it is impossible (and wrong) to isolate a young person from using network resources. However, ways to neutralize the negative information impact of computer networks should be thought out. A special role in this process should be played by the family.

Key words: psychical health, physical health, information technologies.
